Let me catch you up!

January 27, 2009 Taran and I became foster parents to Drimus and Demetrious. We are loving life and keeping pretty busy. You may or may not have been getting my email updates on the boys so I am going to summarize the last two months! We have had many illnesses: asthma, bronchitis, pink eye, ear infections(2 per child) and exhaustion (that is Taran's illness- didn't want him to feel left out)! We are figuring out this parenting thing out as we go. We have experience more laundry, more fun, more dishes, more laughter, more exhaustion and more love over the last two months than we could have ever imagined. We have two of the best children in the world.

Drimus is 2 1/2 years old. He is your average 2 year old- full of energy. He has learned so much in the last 2 months. He is tender hearted, if he gets in trouble we have to be real careful at how we get on to him. He loves to sing the hippo song, and the joy joy song (I've got the joy joy..). He loves for daddy to read him Bible stories and he has to pray for every single person in our family by name (his sisters, mom, Demetrious, us, all 12 Howell's and all 9 Ellis'). He is a great big brother, he is the best at getting Demetrious to laugh. He is starting speech therapy (even though I can understand every word he says) and learing how to just be a kid. His smile is slowing learning how to come out more often and it is the most beautiful smile you have ever seen.

Demetrious is 1 1/2 year old. He is a mommy's boy. He has an extremly strong personality and knows what he wants when he wants it (normally that is for me to hold him, standing up)! He is easy going as long as its going his way, he thinks everything you do is either funny or unimportant. He is going to be a real handful as he gets older. He is lively and curious at the house but at school he is quiet- in fact they have only heard him yell "mommy" as I leave in the mornings and "mommy" as he runs to me at the end of the day. This last week the preschool told him he wasn't going to get to see his birth mom (we had told him she was coming) and he said "no, my mommy will come" he was pointing at a picture of him and me that they have up in his classroom. He has really learned to talk a whole lot more over the last two months, at home he will say pretty much anything and everything. His laugh is adorable and his smile will make your heart melt.

The boys have 2 sisters that are also in foster care. They have seen their birth mom a few times since they have been with us, the last visit ended up not being the most positive experience for the children. April 6, 2009 is the court hearing to see what kind of time line and what the future may hold for these amazing children of God.

Taran and I have seen God work through SO much stuff this last two months. We got the boys a week before everything happened with my parents and Campus- it was the best distraction and best inspiration to focus on Him. God has perfect timing that is for sure. We have seen a bigger picture of how God has molded us to glorify His kingdom together- seriously do you know two other grown adults that have parents that are still in youth minstry and still love it (even after dirty church politics)!? We have seen that we have to take ourselves out of the equation- God's plan and timing is perfect. Nothing matters but Him, we have always known this- but we have felt it in a way that makes us want to shout it off the roof tops. God is good, blessed be the name of the Lord.
